In Spain, cities with at least 50,000 inhabitants must designate a low-emission zone by 2023, and thus 149 new low-emission zones can be expected by 2025, while Italy already has 172 such zones. And in London, the LEZ is 379 square kilometers and covers all vehicles. In Hungary, a guide for creating low-emission zones was already prepared in 2013, but no progress has been made in practice since then. In Budapest, for example, it would have been possible to limit the entry of the most polluting cars into those protected zones, where it is only possible to enter with a special permit, for example Margaret Island and Buda Castle.
