Nothing Phone (1) problems: everything in a row

The Nothing Phone (1) is the most notable smartphone in years and that’s why many people are interested in it. Buying is still a tricky point, because that can only be done via a few channels and without a subscription. The first devices have already been delivered and users are reporting several issues that we have listed for you below.

1. Green, gray or pink tint of the screen

Several users report that the screens of their devices have a colored haze or streaks. That can be green, pink or light gray and is something we have heard more than once. It is most noticeable with a dark background and when the 120Hz mode is turned on.

Not everyone sees it or experiences it as a downside and it differs quite a bit in how it looks. It can be on the top, bottom or sides and is even more visible in a dark room. Manufacturer OnePlus has suffered a lot from this on several phones with an AMOLED screen, where the manufacturer then announced that it could be solved with software updates.

2. Dead pixels around the front camera

There have also been several reports of dead pixels around the front camera. Again, this is not an unambiguous problem, because the broken pixels can be located on the top or side. How exactly this is possible and how many users this problem affects is still unknown.

3. Dropping connections

The mobile connection is not always stable, which means that some Nothing Phone (1) ‘ers prevents them from being out of range for a while. In addition, you are temporarily unavailable for incoming calls, but calling yourself is also not possible.

4. Netflix not available to everyone

As we mentioned in our review, Netflix is not available for download in the Play Store and that’s something we read in more places. That most likely has to do with the Play Protect certification, which is out of order.

In our review device, the bootloader is not unlocked, which probably has consequences for that certification. If you do unlock that, then you have to get started anyway to install a manual apk file to be able to watch Netflix.

5. Water and condensation in the housing

Google Play Protect-certificering

A user has even been spotted with water behind the cameras of his brand new Nothing Phone (1). We must, however, mention that it only concerns a single person and that we know nothing about it outside the stated context. Perhaps the person in question kept his device under water for an hour or forced something, after which this happened.

Nothing itself has not yet responded to the above messages. If you have problems with your Nothing Phone (1), we recommend that you contact the company.

Nothing Phone (1) review on Android Planet

Just before the weekend we also have our extensive

Nothing Phone (1) review

published. We will of course take you along the striking appearance and the LEDs on the back. Also matters such as batteries, cameras, hardware and software are discussed in detail! Below you can read the conclusion:

Over the past few weeks it may have turned out that the Nothing Phone (1) is the most hyped smartphone ever. Nice of course if that is your goal as a brand, but then you also have to be able to live up to that hype. Nothing has unfortunately not quite succeeded in that.

The Phone (1) offers nothing special in terms of internal hardware compared to the cheaper competition. Availability is still a thorny issue and the software could use some updates.

Yes, the back and LEDs are indeed different than usual and that deserves a compliment. However, Nothing indicates that it wants to stay away from ‘unnecessary fuss’ and that choice can be called very remarkable.

We had hoped for a new fresh player on the smartphone market, but for the time being the hypetrain has run aground and its lights are out for now.
