We’re going to try something new at Android Planet. From now on you will find a fresh batch of Android tips on the website every Saturday morning. Sometimes we focus on general tips, but sometimes we also focus on a specific app or theme.

1. Navigating without prying eyes

This is how you activate the incognito mode of Google Maps:
Open the Google Maps app on your phone;
Tap the profile icon at the top right;
Choose ‘Turn on incognito mode’;

2. Share your location
Also useful: Google Maps has a built-in feature to share your location with others. For example, if you are abroad and your children are going out, you can keep an eye on them from a distance with this mode.
Share a location via Google Maps: Open the Google Maps app and tap your profile icon at the top right of the screen;
Choose ‘Share location’;
Indicate how long you want to share your location, and with whom;
Then you can easily share your location with others via WhatsApp, email or another way.
Recipients not only see where you are (or rather, your phone), but also your name and photo. In addition, they see how you travel (by foot, cycling or driving) and how much battery your phone has left.
3. “Where are we parked again?”
If you have a car, you have probably forgotten where it is parked again state. Fortunately, there is a function in Google Maps that allows you to outsource this job:
Park your car and then open the Google Maps app;
Tap the blue dot that your indicates location;

4. Create your own tourist route
Google Maps is a great way to find places of interest near (to your holiday address). Did you know that you can also add these locations to a list? In this way you can, for example, compose a tourist route of all places of interest:
Open the Google Maps app and find a point of interest nearby;
Tap the label and from the drop-down menu choose ‘Save’;
Add the location to an existing list, or create a new selection;
Enter any note and save the list.
You can find the list in the “Saved” tab at the bottom of the Google Maps app. Here you can also add to and adjust the list (at a later moment).
